Oreo Cupcakes & Creamy Frosting

Oreo cupcakes recipe - Lilie Bakery

A recipe from Oreo Cupcakes surprising with its hidden biscuit heart! A base of chocolate cake, garnished with a creamy vanilla icing like a whipped cream… Easy to prepare and terribly delicious, you will love them!

If you like them Oreo cookies, then this Oreo cupcake recipe should please you. It really is simple to do. In terms of equipment, you need cupcake boxes and a muffin tin to bake them. You will also need a pastry bag if you want to make a decoration like in my photos.

What ingredients do you need for this Oreo cupcake recipe?

For chocolate cupcake base, you need the same ingredients as a classic cake: flour, egg, sugar, bitter cocoa, baking powder and baking soda, milk, oil, vanilla, salt. For a very soft result, I add a little hot water. It is also necessary to provide Oreo cookies that you are going hide inside, and spread to stick them 2 to 2.

Easy Oreo Cupcakes - Lilie Bakery

Regarding creamy frosting, it is a vanilla mascarpone whipped cream to which I added a touch of dark chocolate. To make this icing you will just need 5 ingredients: mascarpone, liquid cream, vanilla, icing sugar, dark chocolate.

How to make Oreo cupcakes?

To prepare these cupcakes is very simple. We start with the chocolate cake base so that she can cool before being decorated. To do this, we mix the dry ingredients together, then add the liquid ingredients, finishing with hot water. No fear if it's liquid, it's normal.

On glue the Oreos in pairs with a little spread and then place them in the bottom of the boxes placed in the muffin tin. Then pour the dough over to 2/3 of the height to avoid any overflow. Put in the oven, then let cool on a rack.

To prepare the icing, again it is very simple. We whip the whipped cream with the icing sugar then incorporate the previously relaxed mascarpone and vanilla. As usual for my recipes, I invite you to adapt the dose of sugar as you like, to have a result you like.

Finally, all that remains is to decorate! Prepare the pastry bag by adding a fluted tip, the 2D socket for me. We melt the dark chocolate and we tablecloth inside the pocket of this chocolate before adding the icing. In this way, the icing that comes out will have chocolate highlights! It is optional, you can decorate the cupcakes with the frosting without chocolate. We add half an Oreo on each cupcake, and they're ready to eat ...

So I was inspired by your idea of putting an oreo at the bottom of my box (and yes two that didn't work! Lol!) And after I totally innovated (which had never happened to me before too afraid to crash ) so I made a base of rather vanilla cupcakes and a bigout icing (yes like the malabars! lol)! thank you for inspiring me (it really liked);)

Hello Priscillia, for the Oreos, I don't understand why they go up in fact, you may need to add a touch of Nutella to the bottom of the boxes, to weigh them down a bit? This has not happened to me so I'm racking my brains… @ soon

Hello first of all. Know that it is an icing that I often make, the proportions given are correct. The problem must come from your whipped cream (either cream with too low a percentage of fat, or not cold enough, or not beaten enough) ...

Wow after researching THE recipe for oreo cupcakes that I will keep in my book I chose yours !!
it was delicious all my guests lick their fingers !!! on the other hand I did not use olive oil and I had no problem =) and I had chosen without paying attention a light liquid cream, and NEVER take a light cream because it does not rise in whipped cream = (so mascarpone and icing sugar with a little bit of cream all the same so that it is not too firm and it is gone =)
I think to put less sugar next time because 300Kcal the cupcakes I will have to find a solution to lighten because I think quickly to redo it =)
I just had a problem with the oreo and went up and impossible to fix it at the bottom, suddenly the top of the cupcake was not very pretty, luckily there was the ganache to hide. a solution can be?

But a delight I will take a tour of your site and certainly save it in my favorites =) !!!

    Hello Lily,

I tested the recipe - cake base - tonight. Result: the Oreos are put together (yet I literally covered them with Nutella (one layer to stick them together, one layer above and below)). They did not really rise during cooking either ... in short, I'm a little crestfallen ... I guess the icing will manage to hide the imperfection but for the height I'm a little disappointed. Do you have an idea or a solution?

    See you soon

Hello, for the volume we must try to increase the amount of dough per box. For the Oreo that's going up, maybe try pressing it down in the middle of cooking? This is just a guess… @ soon

        Hello Lilie,
Thanks for the tip. The icing masked the problem very well (well, it did not hold up well given the heat / heaviness of the weather here in Belgium but gourmets saw nothing but fire ;-)).
Next time, I'll try to press it halfway through the cooking time. I wonder if this isn't a typical Oreo SLR; I very often make an Oreos fondant (also placed in the mold) and they also rise to the surface.

On the other hand, for the volume, if I increase the quantity of dough I am rather at 4 / 5th (and not 2/3), even at the limit of the overflow. I'm thinking of going for taller boxes instead - or going for a single Oreo in the mold.

In short, thank you again for your answer and for all these caaaanons recipes that you offer. The friends are over.

        See you soon,
