A recipe from Oreo Cupcakes surprising with its hidden biscuit heart! A base of chocolate cake, garnished with a creamy vanilla icing like a whipped cream… Easy to prepare and terribly delicious, you will love them!
If you like them Oreo cookies, then this Oreo cupcake recipe should please you. It really is simple to do. In terms of equipment, you need cupcake boxes and a muffin tin to bake them. You will also need a pastry bag if you want to make a decoration like in my photos.
What ingredients do you need for this Oreo cupcake recipe?
For chocolate cupcake base, you need the same ingredients as a classic cake: flour, egg, sugar, bitter cocoa, baking powder and baking soda, milk, oil, vanilla, salt. For a very soft result, I add a little hot water. It is also necessary to provide Oreo cookies that you are going hide inside, and spread to stick them 2 to 2.
Regarding creamy frosting, it is a vanilla mascarpone whipped cream to which I added a touch of dark chocolate. To make this icing you will just need 5 ingredients: mascarpone, liquid cream, vanilla, icing sugar, dark chocolate.
How to make Oreo cupcakes?
To prepare these cupcakes is very simple. We start with the chocolate cake base so that she can cool before being decorated. To do this, we mix the dry ingredients together, then add the liquid ingredients, finishing with hot water. No fear if it's liquid, it's normal.
On glue the Oreos in pairs with a little spread and then place them in the bottom of the boxes placed in the muffin tin. Then pour the dough over to 2/3 of the height to avoid any overflow. Put in the oven, then let cool on a rack.
To prepare the icing, again it is very simple. We whip the whipped cream with the icing sugar then incorporate the previously relaxed mascarpone and vanilla. As usual for my recipes, I invite you to adapt the dose of sugar as you like, to have a result you like.
Finally, all that remains is to decorate! Prepare the pastry bag by adding a fluted tip, the 2D socket for me. We melt the dark chocolate and we tablecloth inside the pocket of this chocolate before adding the icing. In this way, the icing that comes out will have chocolate highlights! It is optional, you can decorate the cupcakes with the frosting without chocolate. We add half an Oreo on each cupcake, and they're ready to eat ...

Oreo Cupcakes & Creamy Frosting
Ingredients:
Cupcake base
- 120 g of flour
- 200 g powdered sugar
- 50 g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cc of baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 whole egg
- 60 ml oil
- 125 ml whole milk
- 1 tsp liquid vanilla extract
- 125 ml hot water
- 24 Oreo® cookies
- Spread
Creamy icing
- 250 g of mascarpone
- 1/2 tsp liquid vanilla extract
- 20 cl full liquid cream
- 30 g icing sugar
- 50 g dark chocolate pastry
Instructions:
Cupcake base
- Preheat the oven to 180 °. In a container, combine the dry ingredients. Then add the liquid ingredients. Finally add the hot water (do not worry if the dough is very liquid, this is normal). Place paper cups in a rigid muffin pan.
- Take two Oreos, group them together by coating them with the spread, then place them in the pairs thus formed in each of the boxes. Fill the boxes with the dough, until the cookies are covered, so 2/3 (no more, otherwise beware of overflowing).
- Cook for about 20 minutes. Let cool on rack.
Creamy icing
- Relax the mascarpone with the liquid vanilla. Beat the whole liquid cream into a firm whipped cream, adding the icing sugar. Incorporate this whipped cream into the mascarpone and mix well.
- Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave. Place a little chocolate on the inside walls of the pastry bag, fitted with a fluted tip. Fill the pastry bag with the whipped cream and mascarpone icing, and decorate the cupcakes.
- Add half an Oreo on each cupcake to decorate.

So I was inspired by your idea of putting an oreo at the bottom of my box (and yes two that didn't work! Lol!) And after I totally innovated (which had never happened to me before too afraid to crash ) so I made a base of rather vanilla cupcakes and a bigout icing (yes like the malabars! lol)! thank you for inspiring me (it really liked);)
cute
super cupcakes, delicious, beautiful, the best!
philo
Really very greedy and too too beautiful
Nail
Thank you for that great recipe!! Only I put only 1 oreo per cupcake (I didn't have enough!) And it went up to the top of the cupcake? Any idea why or how ??
The thank you box
PS: your blog is awesome! I hesitated on the cake I'm going to bake for my son's 3rd birthday, but I have a choice !!
merciiii

Hello Nael, oh say so he wanted to play smart your Oreo and escape from the box? It hadn't happened to me, it's amazing! Happy baking for your son's birthday and @ soon!
Stephanie
Cc I think it was too light a single oreo. With two you would not have had this problem. Have a good day
Marion
A superb recipe that should make my colleagues happy this week. On the other hand, a small question: can the icing be made the day before and kept in the fridge or is it better the same day?
Lilie bakery
Hello Marion, ideally, you should make the icing the same day, it's better, but the day before you can too. You will take them out of the fridge a few minutes before serving. @ soon.
Priscillia
Hello,
I followed your recipe to the letter and yet my oreos went back to cooking :(
I do not understand why !!
Lilie bakery
Hello Priscillia, for the Oreos, I don't understand why they go up in fact, you may need to add a touch of Nutella to the bottom of the boxes, to weigh them down a bit? This has not happened to me so I'm racking my brains… @ soon
Cacou
Yum !! Me who adores oreos… I sit in my kitchen and live the facts! : 3
Oriana
Hello, just a quick question, do you put the oven on traditional or convection heat?
Lilie bakery
Hello Orianne, always traditional heat in pastry. @ soon
Oriana
The same, the oreos came to the surface and yet I added a thin layer of spread at the bottom to make them stick. I hope they will be good anyway.

Cupcakes requested by my daughter for her birthday, very successful and very tasty (a killer in fact !!! ;-)). Thank you!
Miumoune
I just tested the recipe. The cupcakes were very good but the recipe for the frosting does not go well. It was too runny even after several hours in the refrigerator. I am very disappointed with the recipe, which looked good.
Lilie bakery
Hello first of all. Know that it is an icing that I often make, the proportions given are correct. The problem must come from your whipped cream (either cream with too low a percentage of fat, or not cold enough, or not beaten enough) ...

CuckooOne
I really like your recipe.
I absolutely have to test.
Milie
Just perfect recipe a real treat
Agathe
I just tested: delicious !!! The icing: a killer, so light. The chocolate cake is also very light, this little cupcake goes by itself… On the other hand, even notice a single oreo for me and it goes up. And for my oven only 12 minutes of cooking.
Choupinette
Hello ! I tested with 100g of sugar + 50g of stevia to limit the damage on my line and the result is not bad. The perfect toping (I also reduced it in icing sugar). Thank you for this excellent recipe, very pleasant to make and to taste.
Nanou
Perfect try and adopt !!!!
song
Wow after researching THE recipe for oreo cupcakes that I will keep in my book I chose yours !!
it was delicious all my guests lick their fingers !!! on the other hand I did not use olive oil and I had no problem =) and I had chosen without paying attention a light liquid cream, and NEVER take a light cream because it does not rise in whipped cream = (so mascarpone and icing sugar with a little bit of cream all the same so that it is not too firm and it is gone =)
I think to put less sugar next time because 300Kcal the cupcakes I will have to find a solution to lighten because I think quickly to redo it =)
I just had a problem with the oreo and went up and impossible to fix it at the bottom, suddenly the top of the cupcake was not very pretty, luckily there was the ganache to hide. a solution can be?
But a delight I will take a tour of your site and certainly save it in my favorites =) !!!
Lilie bakery
Hello Mélodie, a nutella nut to fix the biscuit at the bottom, it is my solution to me, it works well. @ soon!

thank you very much, i will test next time =) (very soon)

Hello Esque baking soda is mandatory? Please respond quickly, thank you.
Lilie bakery
Hello, it is better to use it yes otherwise the cupcakes will be less bulky.
Gaëlle
Second time I make this recipe and I can't get enough of it! A real killer that has a knack to please everyone !!
On the other hand, I replace the cocoa powder with melted chocolate and it is really super good :)
bow
Great recipe, can we replace liquid vanilla with vanilla extract and baking soda with yeast?
Lilie bakery
Hello, yes it is possible, @ soon
kika92
Hello,
I discovered your blog a short time ago !! and I LOVE !! I want to do everything !! lol but I'll probably start with these great cupcakes!
so I have a few questions:
is baking soda mandatory? can I use 2cc meter of baking powder instead?
after baking the oreo in the cupcake are tender or crunchy?
merciiii
Lilie bakery
Hello, baking soda can be substituted with baking powder. For the Oreos, they remain a bit crunchy. @ soon
kika92
Thank you so much ! it's just a KILL !!! delicious ! the cream is perfect!
I just put a single Oreo instead of 2 for more softness ...
do you think we can use the cake recipe for a large mold?
because it is just perfect, super soft and strong in chocolate as I like! :)
I have a doubt, I'm afraid it will break ...
Thank you very much !!!
Lilie bakery
Hello, yes it is quite adaptable in large format version, the cooking will have to be adapted. See you soon
hello
once again, both in the realization and in the tasting it is flawless !!

Lalo
Hello Lily,
I tested the recipe - cake base - tonight. Result: the Oreos are put together (yet I literally covered them with Nutella (one layer to stick them together, one layer above and below)). They did not really rise during cooking either ... in short, I'm a little crestfallen ... I guess the icing will manage to hide the imperfection but for the height I'm a little disappointed. Do you have an idea or a solution?
See you soon
Lilie bakery
Hello, for the volume we must try to increase the amount of dough per box. For the Oreo that's going up, maybe try pressing it down in the middle of cooking? This is just a guess… @ soon
Lalo
Hello Lilie,
Thanks for the tip. The icing masked the problem very well (well, it did not hold up well given the heat / heaviness of the weather here in Belgium but gourmets saw nothing but fire ;-)).
Next time, I'll try to press it halfway through the cooking time. I wonder if this isn't a typical Oreo SLR; I very often make an Oreos fondant (also placed in the mold) and they also rise to the surface.
On the other hand, for the volume, if I increase the quantity of dough I am rather at 4 / 5th (and not 2/3), even at the limit of the overflow. I'm thinking of going for taller boxes instead - or going for a single Oreo in the mold.
In short, thank you again for your answer and for all these caaaanons recipes that you offer. The friends are over.
See you soon,
Kombe
Hello,
it is to know please where to buy your cake stands

louuurd, me who does not follow a cook I followed everything to the letter and they are perfect! Thank you
Bibiche
I am really disgusted I followed the recipe the letter already I have Not 12 cake but the triple and when it comes out of the kitchen there is more than the oreo covered with a little dough is especially bcp too much fat I am too disappointed this recipe absolutely does not work
My pretty La Rochelle cakes
Recipe tried and not AT ALL approved, very disappointed with the result too dry, too much cocoa, 2 oreos is too much for a single cupcake, the oreos go back up and yet I tried in several ways. 24 cupcakes in the trash
Lilie bakery
Hello "Mes Jolis Gâteaux La Rochelle", too dry = overcooked in your oven, too much cocoa = each one adapts according to its tastes, it is the same for sugar ...
Cupgreedy 13
Hello,
I would like to know the standard size of a cupcake and the box!
Merci :)
Lilie bakery
Hello, the standard size must be 5cm in diameter at the base of the box;)
Pauline
I made it this afternoon! It's absolutely delicious, plus it's visually appealing and it's pretty quick and easy to make! Awesome ! Top home top this recipe! Everyone feasted ! thank you so much
Amélie
And it's 10 years after its publication that I finally tested this recipe and it was a huge success. Personally I didn't put 2 whole oreos inside but 2 half that I assembled with nutella as indicated and no worries about oreos coming up as I could read in several comments. otherwise recipe followed to the letter for the rest. I recommend and would surely do it again another time. THANKS
Lilie bakery
Thank you Amélie for your feedback! Year after year it's a recipe that never goes out of style, you're right :) See you soon!
